The benefits of Exposed aggregate concrete

Joondalup's Trusted Concrete Contracting Company

If you're looking for a decorative concrete that is both stylish and durable, then exposed aggregate concrete could be the cost effective solution you are looking for.

Low maintenance

A quick pressure wash or hose down every once in a while will keep it looking brand new for years to come. The low maintenance comes from the lack of cracks and crevices for weeds to grow and sand to build up in. A high quality sealer applied after the aggregate has been exposed, keeps the concrete from becoming discoloured. The sealer will only need to be reapplied every 3-5 years depending on the harshness and weather conditions of the area.

Durable

The perfect solution for high traffic and large vehicle movement areas such as paths, alfrescos and driveways. The sealer placed on top of the exposed aggregate makes it tougher on stains.

Weather resistant

The exposed aggregate surface along with the top quality sealant used can withstand the harsh climates of Perth summers and winters.

Stylish

If it's a conversation starter or the best driveway in the street you're after, exposed aggregate concrete is a great material to be used. The raw natural feel meets a classy and sleek design allowing for an outstanding statement piece and a great first impression on guests.

Customisable

An unbelievable range of colours, styles and textures available to suit the colour scheme of your home. Not to mention the endless layout options from individual stepping stones to paths weaving around garden beds.

What is exposed aggregate?

Exposed aggregate is poured the same way that standard concrete is, the difference comes at the finishing stages. A water based chemical retarder concentrate is sprayed on top of the concrete that has just been poured. The retarder is used to delay the top layer from setting at a controlled depth. This allows concrete below the surface and retardent to harden like normal.

The top layer or the skin of the concrete is removed using a pressure washer or sometimes a garden hose, washing off the skin of the concrete reveals the amazing aggregate. There is a huge range of coloured concrete and stones to choose from. There is also the option for different size stones to be added to your aggregate, ranging from 3 mm up to 20 mm. With a huge range of options for colours and texture, there is always a concrete mix to suit your design in Perth’s Northern Suburbs.
